FILM PROPERTIES

Chemical Resistance

• Resistant to mild chemical fume attack

• Not suitable for heavy chemical exposure or direct chemical contact

• Special paint systems may be required for severe chemical environments

Heat Resistance

• Generally resistant to heat up to 90°C

• Discoloration of light colours may occur above 80°C

Water Resistance

• Resistant to normal atmospheric humidity in interior and exterior environments

• Withstands repeated washing

• Not suitable for immersed surfaces

COMPOSITION (NOMINAL)

• Light fast non-lead pigments

• Binder: Long oil alkyd

• Solvent: Mineral Turpentine (MTT)

VOLUME SOLIDS

• White: 40% (nominal)

• Other colours may vary

DRYING TIME

• Single coat at standard film thickness

• Touch Dry: 3–4 hours

• Recoat: 16 hours

• Approx. 150 sq. ft. per litre per coat

THINNING

Brush / Roller

• Add up to 0.5 part mineral turpentine to 4 parts paint (10–12%)

Conventional Spray

• Add up to 1 part mineral turpentine to 4 parts paint (20–25%)

CLEANING UP

• Clean all equipment with mineral turpentine immediately after use

SURFACE PREPARATION

• Surfaces must be:

  • Clean

  • Dry

  • Free from defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease, and wax

• Previously painted surfaces:

  • Rub down thoroughly using suitable abrasive paper

  • Remove all dust

• Steel surfaces:

  • Prepare manually using power or hand tools to BS7079 Part A1:1989 (St3)

• New galvanized and aluminium surfaces:

  • Clean and degrease thoroughly

  • Pre-treat with a suitable pre-treatment primer for good adhesion

SYSTEM INFORMATION

• Wood: Primer (Oil Base) – 1 coat

• Metal: Red Oxide Primer – 1–2 coats

• Masonry: Primer (Oil Base) – 1 coat

• Finish: Oil Matt – 2–3 coats

SAFETY, HEALTH & FLAMMABLE INFORMATION

• In case of fire, use:

  • Foam

  • Dry powder

  • AAAF

  • CO₂ fire extinguisher

• Never use water on fire

• Keep away from sources of ignition

• No smoking

• Keep container tightly closed and upright when not in use

• Keep out of reach of children

• Keep away from combustible materials

• Contains mineral turpentine

Ventilation & Use

• Use only in well-ventilated areas

• Keep doors and windows fully open during application and drying

• Do not use on large interior surfaces or in confined spaces

Professional Use

• Professional operators may apply on large interior surfaces or in confined spaces only with:

  • Air-supplied breathing apparatus

• For short-term application or sanding:

  • Wear a suitable cartridge mask

  • Replace filters regularly
